What this site collects
In effect as of 2026-08-05 · this page is dated because it can change
The Franchise Record is a set of static pages plus one contact form. This page sets out what is recorded when a page is requested, what the form stores, and how long it is kept.
Server logs
This site is served through Cloudflare. Like any web host, that infrastructure records ordinary request data — IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser’s user-agent string and the referring page — and uses it to deliver pages, to keep the site available and to block abuse. Cloudflare may also set a small number of strictly necessary cookies for security and bot detection; those come from the network layer rather than from anything written here. Cloudflare’s own handling is described in its privacy policy.
Analytics
As of the date at the top of this page, readership is judged from the request data the hosting layer already records for delivery and abuse protection, described above. This page carries the date it took effect, and the site log records when it changes.
The contact form
Submitting the contact form stores the message you typed and, where you fill them in, your name, email address and subject, together with the date, the IP address the request came from and your browser’s user-agent string. That record is used to read and answer the message, and it is kept as part of the record of corrections and document tips for as long as the page it concerns is published.
Readership
This site publishes statutory, legislative and docket material for an adult readership: dealers, lawyers, reporters, congressional staff, librarians and academics.
Requests
Readers in jurisdictions with statutory data rights — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and California — may ask what is held about them and ask for it to be deleted. In practice the material held is what a reader chose to send through the contact form, and the infrastructure logs the hosting provider keeps under its own retention schedule. Requests go to the contact form.
Links out
Pages here link to statutes, dockets, court opinions, agency reports and archives on other organisations’ websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes
This page carries the date it took effect. When it changes materially the date changes with it and the change is described here rather than slipped in.
